Transparent Ownership

How much does it cost to become an owner with Summit View Racing?

It depends on the purchase or claim price of the horse, this varies.  Typically, a 5% investment in one of our horses ranges from $1,600 to $3,250.  As of August 2023, we're claiming horses in the $32,000 to $62,500 range.

What about the reoccurring fees?

The monthly costs to maintain your new racehorse are relatively consistent.  Monthly fees include but are not limited to:

  • Training
  • Veterinarian
  • Blacksmith(shoeing)
  • Transportation
  • Mortality Insurance
  • Ongoing Business Expenses
  • Raceday expenses

Using the same 5% ownership example as above, here is one example from June 2023.

  • Training $180
  • Veterinarian $21
  • Blacksmith(shoeing) $11.50
  • Total fees for June 2023: $212.50

Taking the above as an example, annual fees at 5% ownership works out to be $2,500 to $3,000.  At this time, monthly fees are due at the beginning of the month once invoices are distributed.

What does ROI look like?

There are several avenues to generate return on your investments!  Our primary revenue stream is race winnings, however we anticipate our New York barns to be built into 2024 which will allow for breeding and sales ventures.   Horse racing purses vary based on the type of race, please review our FAQ's for details on race types.

Race day purse winnings are distributed to our partners once management and trainer fees are removed from winnings.  Typically purses are distributed as follows:

  • 1st 60%
  • 2nd 20%
  • 3rd 10%
  • Remaining 10% split amongst the field
